Thanks for the welcome now if we can only get the podium too welcome Marco back! the last win for Marco happened while my father was in the hospital. He had a sudden stroke and although he was in a coma the nurse said they can sometimes hear what is going on. The nurses let me turn the TV up and I sat there with my dad while I gave him the play by play of the Infineon race.We were to be at that race and when I came to talk to my dad about the weekend is when I found him in the early stages of him having the stroke. That Friday night would be the last time I would see my father alive. I would like to think that my father could hear that Marco had won that race. that was almost 3 years ago and yet it seems like yesterday 4 me. I contacted the Andretti P.R. dept to see if he would run a race with my fathers picture somewhere on the car but they turned me down. I was brought up an Andretti fan and my father and I went to all the races we could. The race track to me will never look the same and I guess its fitting we don't race at Fontana anymore cause that track holds so many memmories for me, and I don't know if I could handle being there without him! I still wonder what it would have hurt to put a small picture of my father on the car? Wow I just mean't to say thanks and here I am rambling on. Sorry Paul

We met Marco at an autograph session at the Edmonton Indy. He was very nice to my son and took great pride in the fact my son knewwho the other Andretti's are and what their racing history was. He is only 9. We also met Marco at the race a couple of times and he addressed my son by name both times and offered autographs when requested. Very nice and sincere. We had the opportunity to meet Michael as well and he too provided an autograph for my son as well as a picture. We met him again a couple of times and he too, addressed my son by name. Quite impressive by both considering the number of people they must have met. Keep in touch. Will upload photos of the encounters at a later date. Stay tuned! Regards, Norm

In His Own Words

From Trackside Online:

Marco Andretti: It's easy to get down on the season we had, especially with the way it ended in Homestead, but it's over with and we can't go back. So that leaves us with having to find the good and learn from where we've been.

We didn't win races, but out of 17 starts we had 11 top-10 finishes. We finished eighth in the points - still inside the top 10. It wasn't a great season, but made we progress throughout the year.

It was a frustrating season, for sure, and it was… Continue

Motor oil runs in Andretti family's veins

Original article here

At the Andretti family resort, the members of a clan synonymous with speed enjoy no end of high-revving recreational choices.

There's a circa-1971 racing boat that Mario Andretti, the patriarch and motor-racing legend, has clocked at a top speed of 210 km/h. There are four-wheel off-road vehicles, motocross racers and jet-skis, a water-skiing boat and more.

And when winter falls… Continue

Teammates Andretti, Patrick insist they're at peace despite rumours

The Canadian Press-By John Kekis

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. — Marco Andretti smiled at the question.

Sure, there might have been a few hard feelings aimed at Andretti Green Racing teammate Danica Patrick after Saturday night's race at Texas Motor Speedway, but they already were forgotten.

"I just said what I was feeling," Andretti said Tuesday during a break in IndyCar testing at Watkins Glen International. "I was frustrated. But we talked it out. It's not the first time it's happened and it's… Continue

Marco Andretti tries to avoid another close shave at Texas Motor Speedway

By RAY BUCK rbuck@star-telegram.com

The Andretti name opens a lot of garage doors.

The latest benefactor is 22-year-old Marco Andretti, carrying the family baton now in his fourth year of IndyCar Racing.

Marco brings to open-wheel racing a familiar name and a fresh face ... uh, a Gillette Fusion-smooth face, if you believe the latest TV commercials in which he appears.

The 30-second spot was originally produced for Russian and Canadian market distribution, but has since taken a circui… Continue
