At the Andretti family resort, the members of a clan synonymous with speed enjoy no end of high-revving recreational choices.

There's a circa-1971 racing boat that Mario Andretti, the patriarch and motor-racing legend, has clocked at a top speed of 210 km/h. There are four-wheel off-road vehicles, motocross racers and jet-skis, a water-skiing boat and more.

This year he hopes he has the run of the race.

The 21-year-old brings a famous name back to the streets of Surfers Paradise following the merger of American open wheeler series - the Indy Racing League and Champ Cars under the IRL banner.

Agree, I think Michael is making Marco take baby steps to F1 because he had such a bad experience. Marco is younger and has more time to prepare to make a successful run at F1. I don't doubt it will happen. Like you said, if A1 goes well this year, then maybe a move to GP2. We'll see if Marco signs a 1 or 2 year deal with AGR. That may tell us more. AGR is VERY protective of the information they give out (they have yet to release an official press release about Marco & Danica). GoMarco and TSDG get told nothing ahead of time. We'll see, in the meantime, at least we have a driver to watch this WInter ! Are you to be cheering on the USA in A1GP ?

I totally agree that A1GP is going to be a great indicator of how Marco measures up to F1 recruits from all over the world. I think that's probably why he's getting the opportunity. He can test the waters without giving up his IRL ride. Only time will tell-and I'm glad we have something to watch over the Winter months !

I don't know how much influence I would have, but I think it's a funny idea. After the fedora at Indy I don't know if he'll go for it ! Never hurts to suggest it...

The mad blue wig made me think of when I flew into Glasgow for a job interview. I asked the cabbie which soccer team i should support.

He asked "You a catholic?" "not really..." Protestant?" "Not really..."

"You'd be best watching Partiick Thistle," he said. "They hate everybody..." :-)) LOL.

Should I have been a Teddy Bear do you think?

You know I still think David Coulthard is cool. He seems so chilled when interviewed and talks a lot of sense about racing. (Rubbish website though...)

My dream is to stay in his Monaco hotel and watch Marco start his first Monaco Grand Prix.

When Marco makes it to F1 this should be the Marco fanzone member hotel of choice!

Teammates Andretti, Patrick insist they're at peace despite rumours

The Canadian Press-By John Kekis

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. — Marco Andretti smiled at the question.

Sure, there might have been a few hard feelings aimed at Andretti Green Racing teammate Danica Patrick after Saturday night's race at Texas Motor Speedway, but they already were forgotten.

"I just said what I was feeling," Andretti said Tuesday during a break in IndyCar testing at Watkins Glen International. "I was frustrated. But we talked it out. It's not the first time it's happened and it's… Continue

Marco Andretti tries to avoid another close shave at Texas Motor Speedway

By RAY BUCK rbuck@star-telegram.com

The Andretti name opens a lot of garage doors.

The latest benefactor is 22-year-old Marco Andretti, carrying the family baton now in his fourth year of IndyCar Racing.

Marco brings to open-wheel racing a familiar name and a fresh face ... uh, a Gillette Fusion-smooth face, if you believe the latest TV commercials in which he appears.

The 30-second spot was originally produced for Russian and Canadian market distribution, but has since taken a circui… Continue
